Altar del Día de Muertos San Antonio TX

Altars

Día de Muertos in San Antonio is becoming a very important event.  Since 2017, Historic Pearl has been the main place where the community gathers to celebrate Day of the Dead.  Historic Pearl is the former brewery that operated from 1883 to 2001and is now converted into one of San Antonio’s most important retail, dining and green spaces,  home of Emma Hotel and the Culinary Institute of America.

During 2017 and 2018, Historic Pearl commissioned Regina Moya to create a big altar to decorate the historic  Brewery.   The altar honored Emma Tenayuca and had two life-size catrinas created by Regina Moya on each side of the altar.  Her altar was visited by thousands of people and represented San Antonio’s Hispanic cultural heritage.

Regina is able to create an altar for display in a museum, institute, or public space.  She may talk about the tradition and teach a workshop for children or adults.
